Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane, real name Radric Davis, was sentenced to a year in jail earlier today (9/12) for various probation violations. Gucci Mane's probation stems from a 2005 conviction for assault.

Under the terms of his probation Gucci Mane was to serve 50 hours of community service a month for a total of 600 hours but probation records show that he has only served 25 hours in the past three years. In addition he showed up to a probation meeting high and tested positive for ecstasy, alcohol and marijuana. The rapper was also recently arrested for DUI.

In today's hearing Gucci Mane pleaded to the judge for leniency and a second chance but to no avail. The judge revoked one year of his probation and ordered him to serve one year in jail starting immediately. Mane will still have to serve 2 and a half years of probation and the 600 hours of community service upon his release.

Gucci Mane was also recently arrested for driving under the influence. His appearance in court today involved his 2005 conviction and not the DUI.

Gucci Mane has released numerous highly successful independent albums. He is currently signed to Atlantic Records, under which he released his latest album, "Back to the Traphouse" in 2007. The rapper's biggest hit thus far was "Icy" from his 2005, independently released "Trap House" album. Last month Gucci Mane teamed up with DJ Scream and released a mixtape, "Gucci Sosa".
